The Financial Services Provision Act is the Japanese law that requires a person selling a financial instrument to explain important matters to the customer, sets out liability for damages when the explanation is not given, and establishes a registration system for financial service intermediaries. Its official name is "金融サービスの提供及び利用環境の整備等に関する法律" (in English, the Act on the Provision of Financial Services and the Development of the Accessible Environment Thereto, a translation of the meaning), and its former title is the "Act on Sales, etc. of Financial Instruments".
