This is a draft, shown for review before publication.
An equity index-linked note is a bond whose redemption amount at maturity or coupon is determined by the movement of an equity index such as the Nikkei Stock Average. There are so-called principal-protected notes, whose terms provide for redemption at face value at maturity, and notes with a knock-in feature, whose redemption amount falls below face value if the index falls to a set level and the index at maturity is also below the initial price.
