JASDEC is a central securities depository that operates a securities settlement system for the safekeeping and book-entry transfer of shares, short-term corporate bonds, general corporate bonds, and investment trusts. Government bonds are not handled by JASDEC, because the Bank of Japan is their book-entry transfer institution1.
JASDEC's system is linked to the current account side of BOJ-NET to provide DvP settlement. JASDEC also provides a service (the settlement matching system) that electronically matches the trade details and settlement instructions of securities transactions between institutional investors and financial instruments business operators2.
Its wholly owned subsidiary, JASDEC DVP Clearing Corporation (JDCC), clears the book-entry transfers of share transactions and similar transactions between financial institutions conducted outside exchanges2.
