XVA includes CVA, DVA, FVA, MVA, and KVA. Each adjustment is added to or subtracted from the value of the derivative calculated without considering credit risk or collateral (the risk-free value). CVA and FVA lower the value, and DVA raises it.
Whether an adjustment is included in the price of a trade varies from one adjustment to another. At the time of a 2017 paper by the Bank of Japan's Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, CVA, DVA, and FVA were becoming established as part of fair valuation, mainly at US and European financial institutions. There was, however, no market consensus on whether to include KVA, which reflects the cost of regulatory capital, in prices.
