The master agreements that ISDA produced are generally used for OTC derivative transactions such as interest rate swaps and currency swaps. A 1987 Bank of England article gave the name as the International Swap Dealers Association (which appears to be its former name). It reports that in mid-1985 the association published standard dealing terms and documentation for interest rate swaps, alongside the British Bankers' Association.

This term and the related pages focus on the standardization of the contracts ISDA produced. The contents of the master agreement are covered in its own term and article, and the history of the organization is covered in the related article "The Swap Market and ISDA."
